Job summary

Theuniversityunion Campus Store in Delafield, WI is seeking a part-time, non-exempt Store Associate to deliver excellent customer service and support daily store operations. You will handle POS transactions, inventory tasks, uniform issuing, and help train student staff.

The role requires a high school diploma, reliability, and ability to work varied hours including some weekends. Prior retail or student store experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures during store hours, including occasional weekends.
  • Maintain visual merchandising, restock shelves, and keep displays organized.
  • Assist with issuing student uniforms and managing uniform rental records.
  • Support inventory counts and loss prevention practices on the sales floor.

Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver excellent customer service by greeting and assisting students, parents, faculty, and guests.

Assist in daily store operations, including supporting opening and closing procedures during scheduled store hours, which may include occasional weekend shifts.

Operate the POS system accurately to process student charges, cash, and credit card sales.

Assist with issuing initial student uniforms, managing uniform rental records, and coordinating student dry cleaning and tailoring requests.

Cross-check the student account restriction list prior to processing student account purchases.

Maintain visual merchandising, keep displays organized, and ensure stock on the sales floor is replenished regularly.

Receive, unpack, count, and restock incoming inventory shipments.

Participate in annual physical inventory counts at the end of the fiscal year.

Support loss prevention practices by maintaining visual awareness on the retail floor to reduce shrinkage.

Assist in helping train and guide student employees and volunteers as directed by the Store Manager.

Additional Responsibilities:

Maintain store cleanliness, including sweeping, dusting, stocking shelves, and disposing of outdated inventory or packaging.

Assist with fulfilling and processing orders related to the online store platform.

Support special events, store initiatives, and sales involving campus groups such as the Parents' Club or Senior Class.

Assist the Store Manager with administrative filing and basic recordkeeping tasks as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Store Manager or Finance Department.

Requirements
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or an independent school store setting is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be friendly, approachable, and courteous when interacting with parents, cadets/students, vendors, and staff.

Basic computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems, barcode scanners, and store software.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating self-motivation on individual tasks.

Flexibility to work varied store hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
