Job summary

Barnes & Noble College is seeking a Campus Retail Associate to provide superior customer service and support store operations in the campus bookstore environment.

You will greet customers, handle transactions, assist with food preparation and service, and maintain displays to create an optimal shopping experience. This is a part-time, on-site position with flexible scheduling for the academic year.

Qualifications

• Candidates must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
• Food handling experience preferred.
• Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.
• Positive attitude with willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
• Flexible availability throughout the academic year including peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with processing sales transactions involving cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
• Greet customers and focus on a positive experience during their visit.
• Support store operations including operating equipment and cash register, ensuring fast, accurate transactions.
• Keep the store fresh by shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products or space.
• Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold food and drinks following recipes and techniques.
• Set up or restock displays, wrap, label, date, and rotate food items for sale.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following cleaning and sanitation standards.
• Part-time positions require availability to work weekly year round; schedules may vary to meet store needs.
• Routine housekeeping like dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.
