Job summary

Evangel University is seeking a Campus Stewardship – Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment in residence hall common areas. The role involves cleaning public spaces, laundry areas, entrances, and other shared areas, while reporting safety concerns per university procedures.

The position is hourly with a day shift, primarily Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm, with some evenings or weekend events as needed. GD or equivalent required; prior custodial experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in custodial or professional cleaning preferred.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum all carpeted common areas, hallways, lounges, and entryways.
• Sweep and mop stairwells, landings, and other hard-surface floors.
• Clean and sanitize all community restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, and floors.
• Empty trash and replace liners in common areas and restrooms.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to the supervisor using work order system.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Campus Stewardship – Custodian

DEPARTMENT: Facilities, Environmental Services

CLASSIFICATION: Hourly

JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the common areas of the Residence Hall while maintaining a positive attitude and building relationships with our students. This position is responsible for cleaning all public and shared spaces of the residence hall and all exterior entries and excludes individual student dorm rooms.

Responsibilities Include:

• Vacuum all carpeted common areas, hallways, lounges, and entryways.
• Sweep and mop stairwells, landings, and other hard-surface floors.
• Clean and sanitize all community restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, counters, and floors.
• Empty trash and replace liners in common areas and restrooms.
• Dust and wipe down furniture, windowsills, handrails, and other surfaces in public areas.
• Clean entrances, lobbies, study areas, laundry rooms, and other shared spaces.
• Clean and maintain Laundry Room including washer and dryers.
• Spot clean doors, walls, and glass inside and outside as needed.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor, utilizing the university’s work order system.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies while following proper cleaning procedures and safety standards.
• Respond to assigned work order requests
• Respond to supervisor’s requests for assistance in other buildings on campus
• Typical schedule is day shift although evening/weekend work may infrequently be requested as necessary for special events, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent G.E.D. certificate. Experience in custodial or professional cleaning preferred. Must be able to work Monday through Friday 7:00am-3:30pm or as needed for events on some nights/weekends as requested.
