Job summary

Beta Academy in Houston, TX seeks a SPED Coordinator to lead Special Education services, compliance, and scholar support systems, ensuring rigorous instruction and equitable access. You will partner with campus leadership, teachers, and families to develop scholars who contribute at local and national levels.

The role reports to the Principal and Executive Director of Special Populations and is a 100% onsite position.

Qualifications

• Valid Texas Special Education Certification.
• Minimum of five years of Special Education teaching experience.
• Strong knowledge of IDEA, TEA compliance requirements, ARD processes, and Special Education law.

Responsibilities

• Serves as campus point person for Special Education services, compliance, and scholar support systems.
• Participates in campus leadership meetings, scholar success meetings, intervention meetings, and instructional planning systems.
• Partners with the Principal, Dean of Academics, Dean of Scholars, teachers, and support staff to ensure scholar success.
• Maintains visibility across classrooms, parent meetings, and campus events.
• Coordinates scheduling, administration, and implementation of district/state assessments (NWEA MAP, AR, STAAR, TELPAS).
• Provides lunch supervision as assigned and supports testing operations with fidelity.
• Reinforces a campus culture of joyful rigor, high expectations, urgency, professionalism, and accountability.

Education

Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Special Education, or related field
