Chartwells Higher Education at UMASS Dartmouth in North Dartmouth, MA seeks a Sous Chef to oversee the Culinary Department’s operation on campus. You will assist in supervision, preparation, and cooking, and work with the Executive Chef to develop menus and assist with ordering.

This energetic role involves cost controls, catering event execution, and launching new culinary programs with the marketing and culinary teams. A.S.

Qualifications

• A.S. or equivalent experience required.
• Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience preferred.
• High-volume, complex foodservice operations experience highly desirable.
• Institutional and batch cooking experiences helpful.
• Knowledge of food and catering trends with focus on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation.
• Computers proficiency including Word, Excel & PowerPoint, Outlook, Email and Internet.
• Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef with cost controls and expenditures for the account
• Assist the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus
• Produce and execute catering events
• Roll out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary team
