Job summary

The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Developmental Services, seeks a Security Team Specialist I for the Wrentham Developmental Center. This role provides security for residents, staff and property on a vast campus and coordinates with local emergency services to maintain safety and order.

The position requires a 3rd shift schedule (10:00 PM–6:00 AM), willingness to work overtime if needed, and a valid driving record.

Qualifications

• Experience in protecting buildings, equipment or individuals or equivalent
• Knowledge of security procedures for buildings and property
• Understanding of arrest laws, search and seizure requirements
• Possession of a valid driving record

Responsibilities

• Provide security for residents, staff and property at a 400-acre facility
• Patrol campus buildings and adjacent areas
• Screen visitors, inspect rooms, control crowds, investigate complaints and safety issues
• Assist local fire, law enforcement, and EMS in emergencies
• Assist in traffic accident investigations and reporting
• Assist in evacuation drills or emergencies
• Assist grounds crew during snow storms
• Operate communications and computer equipment
