Job summary

Yale University Public Safety, Security officers patrol campus buildings, grounds, and parking areas to maintain safety and security. The role emphasizes identifying risks, reporting incidents, and delivering strong customer service to staff and visitors.

Training includes a ten‑week onboarding and a bicycle certification, with required CT license, a valid driver’s license, and on‑site, part‑time work. IPMBA certification is part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with two years in security, law enforcement, or customer service.
• An Associate’s degree plus two years of experience is acceptable.
• CT Security Officer license and valid driver’s license required.
• IPMBA bicycle certification to operate a bicycle in urban settings.
• Proficient with basic computer tools and communication devices.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and protect staff, visitors and property.
• Patrol buildings, grounds and parking areas; monitor for risks.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with Campus Police when needed.
• Check IDs and control access; provide directions and information.
• Open/close facilities and document activity; report maintenance issues.
• Maintain logs and write daily activity and incident reports.
