Job summary

Allied Universal in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Security Officer for full-time unarmed patrols to safeguard campus facilities and support a welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.

You will monitor access points, perform patrols, respond to alarms and incidents, and maintain professional communication while following campus protocols and safety procedures. This role requires strong customer service, reliability, and integrity, with a commitment to community safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• At least 6 months of security-related experience.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screen as required by law.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established campus protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas to help identify and report security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the location, reporting suspicious behavior, hazardous conditions, and maintenance concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Prepare clear, accurate incident reports and maintain professional communication with campus stakeholders, law enforcement, and emergency responders as needed.
