Job summary

East Texas A&M University is seeking a Security Officer to protect campus and support law enforcement efforts. The role involves patrolling, reporting incidents, assisting visitors, and enforcing parking regulations.

You will work various shifts and must be able to respond to emergencies with professional conduct. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver license, and the ability to communicate effectively by radio.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, procedures and laws; keyboard skills required; ability to prepare factual reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrols designated areas to prevent, discover and deter crime.
• Reports matters requiring police action to communications or to officers directly.
• Reports all irregularities, emergencies or suspicious activity.
• Provides a detailed written report on witnessing any criminal activity.
• Issues parking citations and directs traffic in parking operations.
• Applies vehicle immobilization devices as dictated by procedures.
• Assists motorists as dictated by procedures.
• Patrols buildings and grounds for fires, leaks and security.
• Unlocks/locks buildings per schedule.
• Provides information and services to visitors, students and faculty.
• Works special events as scheduled.
