Job summary

Bard College seeks a Full-Time Security Guard to join the Safety and Security department. The Security Guard is responsible for the security and monitoring of campus activities and buildings as directed by the Security Director.

They are responsible for ensuring the safety of campus students, employees and guests to the College. The role requires NYS certification, a high school diploma, and security experience, with a shift differential for night hours and a probationary pay adjustment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma Required.
• Minimum 1 year of security experience; college campus security experience preferred.
• Must complete NYS 8-hour Pre-Assignment Training Certification.
• Must complete NYS 16-hour On-the-Job Training.
• Must maintain NYS Safe Driver Certification and NYS Driver's License.
• Applicants must be registered with NYS DCJS, Bureau for Municipal Police, Security Guard Division.
• Strong attention to accuracy, ability to work under pressure, multi-tasking and follow-up skills.

Responsibilities

• Alarm response, escort service for students and employees, routine patrols, access control, lock outs, prevention of damage/theft.
• Prepare accurate reports as required.
• Maintain general knowledge of plumbing/heating to relate issues to buildings/grounds staff.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Respond rapidly and effectively to crisis situations.
• Assist with dispatcher duties as required.
• Other duties as assigned.
