Job summary

The University of South Alabama’s Baldwin County Campus is seeking a Security Officer I to protect campus premises, monitor access, and respond to alarms and incidents. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, plus at least one year of security experience and a valid driver’s license.

You will work with Facilities and Building Services to maintain safety and compliance. Primary duties include patrolling, reporting incidents, managing access control, and providing escort services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of security or related experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned premises, monitors area traffic, investigates suspicious activities and reports to authorities when necessary.
• Registers and directs visitors, checks IDs and escorts as needed.
• Responds to calls and alarms and documents incidents.
• Monitors security systems and ensures doors are secure.
• Completes daily shift reports and incident reports for law enforcement.
• Provides escort service to staff and students for safety.
• Monitors access control, reports card or system issues.
• Performs preliminary investigations of security deficiencies or breaches.
• Maintains key control and serves as contact for keys.
• Attends safety/environmental compliance meetings.
• Performs AED inspections and first aid kit inspections.
• Assists with crowd/traffic control during emergencies.
• Contacts Environmental Safety for waste disposal when needed.
• Serves as Fire Marshal contact during drills and inspections.
• Regular attendance and ability to work hours and overtime as required.
