Job summary

Southern Research is seeking a part-time security officer to protect personnel, facilities, and assets across the campus. Responsibilities include monitoring access, responding to alarms, patrolling by vehicle or on foot, and enforcing Parking Policy.

The role requires willingness to work varied hours on short notice, a valid Alabama driver’s license, and the ability to obtain firearms and CPR/First Aid certifications. U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Valid Alabama driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willing to work extra hours/overtime as needed.
• Ability to learn new tasks and work well in a team.
• U.S. citizenship required; firearms qualification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Protect personnel, customers, visitors, information, property and assets.
• Monitor access and enforce Parking Policy.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies; coordinate with authorities as needed.
• Patrol campus by vehicle or on foot; monitor surveillance systems.
• Maintain accurate shift reports and ensure doors are secured.
