Job summary

Katy Independent School District is seeking a Security Guard - Level II Certification for an 187-day term at Katy High School, Katy, Texas. The role provides security for students, staff, and district property under direct supervision of the Chief of Police.

Qualifications include Texas Level II security certification, a Texas Driver License, and readiness to work in an educational setting. Prior security experience is preferred and the position uses district security systems and equipment.

Qualifications

• College hours and a high school diploma or GED are required (preferred).
• Texas Driver License and available transportation.
• Level II security certification from the Texas Commission on Private Security.
• Ability to record information.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to work effectively with students.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Working knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systems.
• Interest in working within an educational environment.
• Sensitivity and maturity to work with adolescents.
• Previous experience as a security guard preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in protection of students, staff, and District property.
• Serve as a security resource to students and campus personnel.
• Establish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel serving the school community.
• Identify unauthorized persons who come within the boundaries of the campus and verify their authority.
• Report all criminal offenses originating on assigned campuses to the District’s police department.
• Prepare and file all appropriate reports.
• Appear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant when appropriate.
• Provide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related events.
• Provide a random security patrol on assigned campus.
• Coordinate security services with Katy ISD police personnel.
• Provide appropriate assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc.
• Through the standard chain of command, inform the Chief of Police of all conditions affecting safety and security.
