Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a School Safety Training Lieutenant to lead, supervise, and coordinate security activities across the district, liaising with police, staff, and families to maintain a safe school environment. The role oversees training and evaluation of School Safety personnel and Campus Monitors, and develops coordinated security programs with established procedures.

Candidates must meet education and experience requirements, be willing to carry firearms, pass

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
• Three years' experience as a law enforcement officer or school district security official.
• Seven years' experience as a law enforcement officer or school district security official (must be willing to carry and use all security weapons including a firearm).
• Ability to work extended duty hours for large events, emergencies, or other unforeseen circumstances.
• Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
• Training or experience in conflict or crisis resolution/mediation with youth; experience in public speaking.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Verbal & written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate security activities between district personnel, law enforcement, and community agencies.
• Train, supervise and evaluate School Safety personnel and Campus Monitors.
• Develop and implement coordinated security programs and methods, prioritizing calls for service with dispatch and coordinating responses.
