Job summary

The UC Irvine Police Department is seeking a Public Safety Supervisor to oversee public safety officers and ambassadors, ensuring the safety of the UC Irvine community and campus property. The role requires supervising staff, directing operations, and ensuring adherence to laws and departmental procedures.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of regulations regarding hazardous materials, fire codes, building codes, and related safety requirements and ability to apply concepts to operations.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring and advising employees. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others.
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and execute plans to meet deadlines.
• Organizational skills to apply to coordinating assigned staff schedules and unit operations.
• Interpersonal skills to work well with others and provide strong customer service.
• Ability to apply judgement to quickly evaluate issues and identify solutions within defined procedures.
• Ability to interact with a multi-cultural population under stress while maintaining professionalism.
• Teamwork-focused supervision style to motivate personnel and promote development.
• Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills.

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Experience in University environments and hospital security supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the direct supervision of public safety officers (PSO) and public safety ambassadors (PSA).
• Monitor and direct security operations while coordinating unit activities.
• Supervise PSO & PSA personnel and manage staff schedules.
