Job summary

Howard University Service Center is hiring a Special Police Officer to maintain safety guidelines and provide 24-hour security for the University campus and off-site facilities.

The role requires responding to emergencies, detaining suspects when needed, and coordinating with local authorities. A university police academy or equivalent training is required, with the ability to pass physical and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Four years of security or law enforcement experience.
• Ability to pass physical, agility, and drug tests.
• US citizenship with clean driving record and valid DC license.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency calls and deter criminal activity on campus and off-site facilities.
• Detain individuals when necessary to protect life and property.
• Notify suspects of rights and prepare incident reports.
• Assist in crowd control and evacuations as directed.
• Appear in court or university boards as a witness when required.
