New Bedford Public School District is seeking a School Safety Officer to support safety and security across Normandin Middle School in New Bedford, MA. The role involves patrolling, supervising student activity, and coordinating with local police during incidents to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

The candidate should be 21+, hold a high school diploma, CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain), and CPI training (or ability to acquire).

Qualifications

• Experience working with students and adults in a formal setting is preferred.
• Experience in security and/or safety roles is preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to report to district locations as scheduled.
• Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English.
• Ability to relate to students, staff, visitors and the public in a diplomatic, tactful manner.
• Remain calm and respond appropriately in emergencies.
• Maintain confidentiality.

Responsabilités

• Monitor student behavior during school time and events.
• Patrol school buildings and grounds to maintain safety and security.
• Control and diffuse disturbances within school hours and on grounds.
• Respond to alarms, safety concerns, and incidents to resolve issues.
• Maintain traffic and movement patterns around the facility.
• Maintain logs and prepare security-related reports.
• Assist with emergency drills and safety protocol reviews.
• Provide visitor and contractor access control according to policies.
• Support district safety trainings and CPI responder duties.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
