Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking a School Security Officer to protect students, staff and visitors across all school facilities. You will patrol hallways, respond to incidents, enforce policies and coordinate with local law enforcement.

Requires CPR/AED and First Aid certification, a high school diploma or equivalent, and 2+ years in security. You will complete incident reports, participate in drills, and help maintain a safe, orderly environment for learning.

Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of safe and effective security procedures and methodologies.
• Working knowledge of School Board policies and regulations.
• Ability to investigate, identify, and correct problems; interpret school regulations cooperatively; handle sensitive issues.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas to prevent disruptions, theft, vandalism and unauthorized entry.
• Enforces school policies and procedures regarding conduct on school property.
• Assists in investigations of student violations by collecting statements and reviewing surveillance footage.
• Conducts searches for illegal substances or weapons as directed.
• Maintains safety by monitoring and responding to emergencies and coordinating with law enforcement.
