Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking Police Officers for the Department of Public Safety to ensure the safety of the main campus, satellite campuses, and surrounding areas in Dayton, Ohio. Officers will balance duties as police officers with Sinclair employment and promote student success.

The role includes responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, providing first aid and CPR/AED, and coordinating with mutual aid agencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• OPOTA certification or equivalent required; if from another state, obtain OPOTA certification within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work a variety of shifts and be on-call 24/7/365.
• Must maintain handgun, shotgun and patrol rifle proficiency, CPR/AED and first-aid certifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 campus safety and protect facilities and people on Sinclair's main campus and satellite sites.
• Serve as first responder to emergencies, incidents and routine safety issues.
• Conduct investigations of criminal and non-criminal incidents and coordinate with other agencies.
• Interact with faculty, students, staff and external partners while upholding Sinclair policies.
• Testify in court as required and assist prosecutors with case information.
• Update medical responses and provide CPR/AED when needed.
• Engage in safe, professional interventions including handcuffing and control techniques when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department.
