Job summary

Life University is seeking a Campus Security Officer to ensure safety on campus. You will lock/unlock buildings, patrol grounds, assist students and staff, and write incident reports as required. You will also participate in training programs and maintain positive relations with campus departments.

The role requires a high school diploma with security experience, knowledge of laws, and strong communication and analytical skills. CPR proficiency and Georgia driver’s license are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) with some security or law enforcement experience.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Able to perform duties independently under general supervision.
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects while adhering to strict timelines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on conflict resolution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to perform CPR and basic lifesaving activities.
  • Ability to observe and define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A valid Georgia Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follows daily requirements for building locking and unlocking procedures.
  • Periodically inspects buildings and grounds during the shift to ensure there is no physical damage.
  • Patrols parking lots regularly to ensure traffic flow is not disturbed.
  • Writes parking tickets when necessary.
  • Impounds unauthorized vehicles according to established procedures.
  • Assists visitors, students, faculty, and employees with vehicle problems, directions, and information as requested.
  • Participates in organized programs for training, crime prevention, and community relations.
  • Writes reports as necessary according to department protocol and documents all incidents as required.
  • Develops good working relationships with other campus departments, faculty, and students.
  • Answers the telephone and relays information to the appropriate personnel.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned to support the Life University mission.
  • Locks and unlocks doors on campus and surrounding property.
  • Maintains familiarity with and supports the mission of Life University and Campus Safety.
