Job Description

Position summary:
This position will be supervised by the KC Police Department and will work cooperatively with the KC Residential Life staff. Full-time Campus Safety Officers will be primarily stationed at the Longview Campus but may serve in other areas, including residence halls, as needed. This is a full-time position providing day, evening, and nighttime safety services to students primarily at the Longview Campus, with potential assignments to other campus facilities.

Position responsibilities:

1. Ensuring a safe and secure classroom and residential environment for students
2. Patrolling buildings and grounds to check for potential security and safety hazards
3. Enforcing rules and regulations of KC
4. Reporting irregularities, emergencies, and suspicious activities to the appropriate office
5. Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Position Requirements:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and eligibility to operate a college-owned or leased vehicle
• Passing a thorough background investigation prior to employment
• Ability to provide credible testimony in court and operate a hand-held radio
• High energy level with innovative approaches to address student issues and challenges
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to relate to an ethnically diverse college community

• None

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Work is performed mainly in an interior/office environment
• Occasional lifting/moving up to 15 pounds
• Limited exposure to physical risk

Safety:

• Providing resources for safe operation of units and supporting workplace safety

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No remote work is available. Employees must be available to work on-site in Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX. Some part-time and adjunct positions may be offsite but require residing in Texas.
