Job summary

Pepperdine University’s Department of Public Safety seeks a Field Supervisor to provide leadership and daily supervision to on‑duty officers, conduct shift briefings, and mentor staff while ensuring policy compliance and campus safety.

This Regular, nonexempt, 40‑hour weekly position requires a high school diploma, prior public safety experience, and California driver’s license. The role offers a pay range of $23.62–$26.25 per hour with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• Prior public safety/security experience.
• Three years of supervisory experience or prior law enforcement/public safety experience.
• CPR and basic first aid certificates within 90 days of employment.
• Valid Class C California driver’s license and good driving record.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills with diplomacy.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in stressful situations.
• Ability to work varied shifts including late nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Handle shift administrative duties including briefing, mentorship, and report writing.
• Provide leadership and daily supervision to all on‑duty shift personnel.
• Ensure building security checks, patrols, officer reports, parking enforcement, fleet management, key control, and scheduling.
• Serve as Incident Commander in emergencies and Event Supervisor as needed.
• Identify safety hazards and report them per training and protocol.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with the campus community.
• Uphold university mission through work performed.
