Job summary

South Piedmont Community College seeks a Campus Safety Dispatcher I for a full-time position on the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, NC. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Campus Safety, you will perform safety communications and dispatching, handling emergency information and coordinating with officers on campus.

The role requires calmness under pressure and ability to activate mass notifications (Informacast) and lockdown procedures, with responsibilities including

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience involving substantial public contact.
• Prior experience in a dispatch environment.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse populations.
• Capable of multi-tasking and prioritizing tasks.
• Previous experience learning and utilizing new software technology.
• Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge or experience in the protective services environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and dispatch all police and fire activations.
• Communicate with responding teams and provide real-time support.
• Monitor surveillance cameras for unusual activity and threats.
• Identify potential security incidents or suspicious behavior.
• Initiate lockdown of all campus facilities.
• Respond to alarms and ensure emergency procedures.
• Submit and follow-up help-desk requests and SNOW requisitions.
• Complete Access Requests using Genetec software.
• Audit badge activity logs for anomalies.
• Document alarms, dispatches, and system events in the SOC Log.
• Adjust to scheduling changes as warranted.
• Assist Director of Campus Safety as needed.
