Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be a United States Citizen.
• Must be a legal resident of the State of New Jersey.
• Must possess a high school graduate diploma or GED with higher education in a related field preferred and must have the ability to speak clearly, read and write fluently in English.
• Must possess a New Jersey driver's license with a good driving history and be capable of operating a law enforcement vehicle in day and night, including emergencies.
• Job offer is conditional upon successful background check and commissioning by Stevens Institute of Technology Board of Trustees.
• Must have attended and successfully completed a bonafide New Jersey Basic Police Academy and be fully certified or SLEO II as required by NJ Police Training Commission.
• Must pass interview, rigorous background check, psychological exam and drug screening.
• Must qualify with handgun and long gun as prescribed by NJ Police Training Commission.
• Must be computer literate and able to operate campus police software.

Responsibilities

• Patrol university buildings, grounds and adjacent public areas to enforce NJ statutes and university regulations.
• Protect life and property; prevent and suppress crime; apprehend offenders.
• Prepare reports, testify in court or university hearings, and notify superiors of major incidents.
• Assist in training officers and participate in public safety events and community relations.
