Job summary

Baton Rouge Community College is seeking a bold Chief of Campus Security to lead safety initiatives campus-wide. This executive role directs public safety operations, policy development, and emergency response, shaping a culture of safety and inclusion across the BRCC community.

The Chief reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance & Administration and oversees modernization of safety operations, compliance, and community trust, with a focus on collaboration and accountability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in criminal justice or related field.
• 10 years of progressive policing experience, including 5 years in a command-level position.
• Knowledge of Clery Act compliance and campus safety regulations.
• Experience supervising sworn law enforcement personnel and managing public safety operations.
• Experience developing or implementing departmental policies and procedures.
• Experience coordinating with local, state, or federal law enforcement agencies.

Responsibilities

• Provide executive leadership for all public safety operations, including patrol, investigations, and emergency response.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with laws and regulations; ensure audit readiness.
• Lead campus emergency preparedness planning and crisis management.
• Build relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners to promote trust and safety education.
• Oversee training, certification, and leadership development of public safety personnel.
• Oversee security technologies, parking operations, and identification systems to support a secure campus environment.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget and allocate resources effectively.
