Job summary

Second Mile Education is seeking an Attendance and Security Coordinator to supervise attendance policies, monitor school‑wide data, and engage with families on attendance issues. The role ensures a safe, secure learning environment for students, staff, and visitors while safeguarding school assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three years of work experience in a school setting or related human service area.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and basic software.
• Bilingual in local area languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with daily arrival and dismissal of students, including parent pickup.
• Coordinates attendance and truancy plans.
• Assists Principal with safety procedures and drills.
• Manages collection, storage, and disposal of confiscated items per policies.
• Training of contracted police and security officers as needed.
• Intervenes in altercations to maintain safety.
• Assists staff, police and emergency personnel during emergencies.
• Reports incidents to Principals and Security.
• Patrols parking lot and school grounds as directed.
• Supports sanitation, safety, and facility readiness per procedures.
• Gathers attendance data to identify chronically absent students.
• Home visits to follow up on absences.
• Communicates with parents to ensure attendance.
