Job summary

Babson College is seeking a Police Sergeant of Public Safety to lead campus security operations and supervise officers across the Babson community. The role emphasizes mentoring staff, enforcing laws, and coordinating with other departments in a diverse, multi‑cultural environment.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree; other degrees acceptable with equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a full‑time police officer.
• Graduate of a certified police academy; or approved academy; and bridge Academy.
• Basic police firearms instruction and qualification; current certification.
• Hepatitis B vaccination and OSHA training compliance.
• Thorough knowledge of Babson College policies and public safety procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to analyze emergencies and develop action plans.
• Knowledge of criminal laws, court procedures, and Community Based Justice.

Responsibilities

• Maintain familiarity with applicable laws and Babson College policies.
• Coach, mentor, and guide subordinate officers; ensure proper performance.
• Patrol campus regularly and interact with shift personnel; ensure efficiency.
• Review and sign written reports; ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Respond to disturbances and emergencies; provide backup as needed.
• Coordinate follow‑up investigations and supervise subordinates on cases.
• Investigate and document on‑duty incidents; manage roll calls and inspections.
• Contribute to crime prevention and community engagement programs.
