Job summary

Babson College is seeking a Community Service Officer to work in the Public Safety Department Communications Center. You will dispatch emergency services, perform parking enforcement, escorts, and campus patrols as part of an unarmed security team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 1–3 years of service industry experience.
• Hepatitis B vaccination and OSHA compliance training; maintain throughout employment.
• Active CPR certification (or complete upon hire).
• Knowledge of public safety practices including patrol, dispatch, EMS, investigation, crime prevention.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain and monitor radio communications.
• Ability to handle telephone inquiries and visitor questions.
• Commitment to community policing and running safety programs.
• Willingness to adapt to new procedures and shift work.

Responsibilities

• Operate in the Public Safety Communications Center, receiving emergency calls and dispatching responders using radio, phone, and computer systems.
• Perform parking enforcement, escorts, and security for campus events to maintain a safe environment.
• Carry out daily unlock/lock procedures for campus buildings.
• Patrol campus on foot or in vehicle in an unarmed capacity.
• Maintain radio communications and coordinate with police and fire departments.
• Answer routine business and emergency phone calls and monitor controls (alarm, access, CCTV).
• Contribute to Community Engagement and Crime Prevention programs.
• May train other Public Safety personnel as needed.
• Adapt to additional assignments as required.
