Job summary

Tufts University Police Department is seeking sworn officers to join a dynamic public safety team serving Medford, Boston and Grafton campuses. Officers perform community policing, patrol, emergency response, investigations and liaise with university administration to maintain a safe campus environment.

The ideal candidate will have completed MPTC basic academy, MA POST certification, and possess strong written/oral communication skills, integrity and good driving history.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Active MA driver's license with clean history; ability to obtain MA LTC.
• Completion of MPTC basic Police Recruit Academy and MA POST certification; state and local authority powers as needed.
• Ability to pass comprehensive background check including drug screening and psych evaluation.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to write clear reports and engage in problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus areas and engage with the community to provide information and assistance.
• Respond to calls for service and address safety concerns as a first responder.
• Investigate incidents, preserve crime scenes, interview witnesses and document findings.
• Collaborate with university partners to implement crime prevention and community policing initiatives.
• Attend mandated training and maintain certifications necessary for duty.
