Qualifications

• Police Trainee – Minimum of High School diploma or GED and ability to qualify for attendance at a State of North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) Academy including satisfying all relevant background check and physical agility requirements as required by NC CJETSC and the hiring agency.
• Police Officer I: entry-level with 0-2 years of experience; must complete NC BLET and be certified as an LEO or eligible within one year.
• Police Officer II: 2+ years as sworn officer; must have NC CJETSC general certification.
• Master Police Officer I-III: 6 years experience minimum; advanced certification reduces experience needs; NC CJETSC commission status or eligibility within a set timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Patrol Campus and respond to incidents; enforce State Law and University Policy; conduct investigations and testify in court as needed.
• Engage in community policing efforts and crime prevention programming; participate in special events.
• Assist with inspection and maintenance of campus emergency equipment and safety systems.
