Job summary

Georgetown University in Washington, DC seeks a full-time Police Officer to protect life and property on Hilltop or Capitol Campus. The role includes patrols, event security, investigations, and access control to ensure student, staff, and visitor safety.

Requirements include US citizenship, 21+ years, 1–3 years of security or law enforcement experience, Baton/OC Spray certification, and ability to pass comprehensive testing and background checks. On-campus work with essential shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; college degree preferred.
• 1–3 years of security, law enforcement or military experience.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and at least 21.
• Must qualify for and maintain Special Police Officer’s Commission.
• Valid driver’s license with no violations in last 5 years; pass Driver’s Certification.
• Subjects include written test, report writing test, drug test, medical exam and background investigation.
• Must have current Baton/OC Spray certification and training-capable credentials.
• Knowledge of criminal and civil law and police procedures required.
• Ability to become certified as a trainer within evaluative periods; customer-service oriented.
• Proficient with computers, MS Word; strong report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform law enforcement functions on university property to protect students, staff and visitors.
• Carry out patrols, event security, investigations, and manage access control systems.
• Operate circulation and safety systems; respond to incidents as directed.
• Staff may serve as Watch Commander in absence of a Police Sergeant; may be assigned to Hilltop or Capitol Campus.
