Job summary

WPI seeks a Campus Police Officer for the Midnight Shift in Worcester to protect life and property and ensure a safe living and learning environment for students and staff. The role requires POST-certified officers to have no disciplinary record.

Responsibilities include responding to emergencies, investigations, reports, and maintaining campus safety standards. The officer will enforce state laws and WPI regulations, conduct safety inspections, and participate in crime prevention and security

Qualifications

• Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others.
• Mature, at least 19 years of age, good character.
• Cannot have been convicted of a felony.
• Must be dependable and possess good interpersonal communication skills.
• Successful completion of a MPTC basic recruit police academy or be physical fit to complete training.

Responsibilities

• Protection of life and property on campus and surrounding areas.
• Provide public safety services (escorts, lock-out assists, etc.) to all members and visitors.
• Identify safety and security problems and take timely action to resolve them.
• Promote crime prevention and safety awareness programs on campus and nearby properties.
• Respond to emergencies, conduct investigations, and file written reports.
• Perform safety and security inspections of campus buildings and grounds.
• Enforce Massachusetts laws and campus safety regulations.
• Take police action at crime scenes, administer first aid, gather evidence, and testify in court.
