Job summary

Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Campus Police Officer I to patrol campus facilities and surrounding areas, enforce laws and college policies, and ensure the safety of students and staff.

The role requires eligibility as a Special State Police Officer, successful completion of required training, and the ability to pass medical and background checks. Salary is set within AFSCME guidelines with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Eligible to be appointed as a Massachusetts Special State Police Officer under Massachusetts General Law.
• Must have graduated from a Massachusetts SSPO Academy or MPTC full-time Police Academy.
• If not Police Academy trained, candidate must complete full-time MPTC/SSPO training with endurance testing.
• Must pass pre-employment medical and background checks.
• Must have legal right to carry a firearm in Massachusetts.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas.
• Investigate crimes and incidents and restrain or arrest suspects when necessary.
• Complete crime and incident reports and assist courts in prosecution cases.
• Perform other related work as needed by campus security.
