Job summary

Cal Poly Maritime Academy in Vallejo, CA seeks a part-time Basic Needs Student Assistant for Solano Campus. The role supports the Campus Pantry, distributing food, assisting clients, and coordinating weekly events while engaging with educational seminars on health and food security.

The internship requires up to 20 hours per week, with shifts during Pantry hours, and offers an hourly wage of $17.00. Training includes marketing materials and CalFresh guidance for students.

Qualifications

• Typing and keyboard skills; ability to use standard office equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse clients.

Responsibilities

• Distribute food to Pantry clients during shifts.
• Interact with Pantry clients to assist and support them.
• Set up and manage pop-up events for distributing fresh produce weekly.
• Receive food donations and inventory Pantry supplies and food.
• Prepare and distribute additional resources to Pantry clients.
• Prepare weekly summaries of Pantry activities and semester reports as needed.
• Support creation of marketing materials such as flyers and newsletters when needed.
• Collaborate with on- and off-campus organizations to support the Pantry.
• Assist students through the CalFresh Benefits application process.
