Job summary

American University is seeking a part-time Operations Assistant to support the Mary Graydon Student Center (MGSC) operations. You will oversee building operations, assist with event setup and information desk duties, and maintain OARs under the guidance of the OES Coordinator.

Eligible candidates must be current undergraduate students with a valid AU email, able to lift up to 25 lbs, and available 10–12 hours per week including mornings, nights, and weekends. Compensation is $18.40 per hour.

Qualifications

• Must be an enrolled undergraduate student at American University with a valid AU email.
• Lift items up to 25 lbs and perform flexible morning/evening/weekend shifts.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily building operations, cleanliness, and safety within the MGSC footprint.
• Assist with event setups and breakdowns and support program needs.
• Answer the main information line and direct inquiries at the information desk.
• Maintain Operations Assistant Reports (OARs) and track attendance data.
• Coordinate with MGSC staff and Public Safety as needed.
