Job summary

Merrimack College seeks a Campus Minister for Service and Social Justice to lead service, justice-based programming, and community engagement for students, faculty, and staff. This is an on-campus, full-time position within the Campus Ministry.

The role oversees the SEND service-immersion program, coordinates trips, trains student leaders and advisors, and provides pastoral care consistent with the Catholic Augustinian mission guiding the college community.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology and Ministry, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the SEND program and eight annual Send trips.
  • Select, train and form 14-16 student leaders for Send Program annually.
  • Select, train and form 14-16 faculty/staff/grad student advisors for Send annually.
  • Oversee application, selection, and placement for eight annual Send trips.
  • Meet weekly with SEND leaders and trip leaders (14-16 students).
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual direction to students as needed.
  • Support campus ministry retreats and spiritual groups.

Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Grace J. Palmisano Center for Campus Ministry seeks a Campus Minister for Service and Social Justice to manage and run service, justice-related, and community engagement opportunities. Notablyworking on the SEND service-immersion program and the days ofservice, this position will provide opportunities for students,faculty, and staff at Merrimack College to grow in awareness ofjustice issues and put their faith into action.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the SEND program
    • Select locations and community partner organizations for eightannual Send Program service/immersion trips and evaluate theprogram annually.
    • Select, train and form 14-16 student leaders for Send Programannually.
    • Select, train, and form 14-16 faculty/staff/graduate studentadvisors for the Send Program annually.
    • Oversee application, selection, and placement process for eightannual Send trips; managing approximately 70-80 undergraduateparticipants.
    • Weekly meeting with SEND leaders (14-16 student leaders)
    • Weekly 2 on 1s with specific trip leaders
    • IFTJ Conference
  • Advise two Send trips per academic year.
  • Create programming around peace and justice; collaborate withother departments and student groups around these topics.
  • Oversee the different days of service, including Mack GivesBack, Thanksgiving Basket Drive, Christmas Toy Drive, and MartinLuther King Jr. Day of Service.
  • Oversee the end of year donation drive called Sweeps Week.
  • Provide individual pastoral care and spiritual direction tostudents as needed.
  • Assist in supervising campus ministry retreats and spiritualgroups.
  • Meet with the director of campus ministry on a regularbasis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of thecollege.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Divinity, Theology and Ministry, or a related field.
Work Location

This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and thecommunity.
