Job summary

Kamehameha Schools seeks an entry-level Building Maintenance Repairer to support general maintenance, minor repairs, and hands-on assistance to trade workers. The role emphasizes safety, preparation of work areas, and using basic tools within campus facilities.

Under supervision, you will learn to operate and assist with electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and related trades while contributing to a well-maintained learning environment for the KS community in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with basic computer knowledge.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Able to be certified to operate forklift, scissor lift, and/or skid loader.
• Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
• Willingness to accept and follow directions.
• Basic arithmetic.
• Ability to read and comprehend training materials.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions.
• Ability to interpret simple sketches for work to be performed.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
• Demonstrated values of inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair buildings and equipment as directed.
• Assist trades and skilled workers in various maintenance tasks.
• Prepare work areas and clean up after tasks.
• Support safety procedures and report hazards.
• Document tasks in the work order system.
• Participate in campus events as scheduled.
• Adhere to policies and reporting requirements.
