Job summary

Wilkes Community College is seeking a Maintenance Technician/Custodian for the Ashe Campus. This full-time position reports to the Dean and encompasses cleaning, minor maintenance, and preventive upkeep of facilities. Typical duties include floor care, general cleaning of classrooms and offices, and assisting with setup for events.

Hours run Monday–Thursday 12:00 p.m.–9:15 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexibility for college events.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize, disinfect, and stock restrooms and water fountains.
• Clean classrooms, offices, and common areas daily.
• Strip, wax, and buff floors; vacuum carpets and mop tile floors.
• Operate custodial equipment and assist with minor maintenance tasks.
• Assist with recycling and groundskeeping activities.
• Set up classrooms and meeting spaces as needed.
• Coordinate with other staff on floor care and cleaning schedules.
• Carry radio or cell phone as needed and respond to requests.
