Job summary

Pitt Community College in Greenville, NC is seeking a General Maintenance Technician II to support electrical, plumbing, drywall, painting, and related building system maintenance. The role requires on-call nights and weekends for emergencies and involves hands-on task execution across campus facilities.

You will perform HVAC maintenance, assist with electrical and plumbing projects, install framing and drywall, and operate various maintenance equipment.

Qualifications

• Vocational/technical education in related maintenance field; or at least four (4) years of experience.
• HVAC/Electrical experience
• Experience in drywall, framing and painting a plus
• Working knowledge of construction tools and safety procedures
• Must possess and maintain a valid NC driver’s license and complete CDL training within the first year of employment.
• OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered

Responsibilities

• Performs HVAC maintenance and services air-handling units.
• Assists electrical, plumbing and general maintenance around campus.
• Constructs and installs lightweight steel or aluminum stud framing.
• Measures, cuts, fits and secures drywall panels.
• Tapes, mudds, and sands to prepare surfaces for painting.
• Performs routine/preventative maintenance on various systems and checks door closures.
• Maintains records using a computer-based work order system.
• Operates equipment like forklift, scissor lift, generator, welder, and carpentry tools.
• On-call service rotating nights and weekends for emergencies.
• Assists with storm cleanup, weather-related duties, and snow removal as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
