Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a skilled Locksmith to maintain, repair, and install campus locking and access control systems on campus in San Diego. The role supports security and operations through preventive maintenance, emergency response, and technical expertise in mechanical and electronic security systems.

The position is full-time on campus, with standard hours and eligibility for benefits under SDSU.

Qualifications

• Progressive training and experience demonstrating journey-level locksmith skills.
• Experience with electronic access systems and master key records.
• Ability to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds.
• Knowledge of locks, hardware, and life-safety codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs to maximize system reliability.
• Install, maintain, and repair manual and electronic locking systems and door hardware.
• Respond to emergency service requests to restore security and operations.
• Maintain master key systems and access control documentation.
• Review plans and coordinate with contractors for renovations and projects.
