Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Locksmith to perform journey-level locksmithing across campus facilities, including installation, maintenance, inspection, and servicing of locking systems and keys on all types of doors and equipment at UT Austin and related campuses.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years of locksmith experience with strong customer service, a valid Class C Texas driver’s license, and the ability to read drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 3 years locksmith field experience with strong customer service.
• Valid Class C Texas driver’s license; ability to obtain Texas license if relocating.
• Ability to read and follow drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain lock types; perform rekeying on request.
• Cut keys by code; duplicate keys; manage key codes and records.
• Maintain work orders in UT Works and report status in a timely manner.
• Communicate with UT personnel and stakeholders; provide timely updates.
• Attend meetings and drive University vehicles; ensure safety and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations; maintain clean work area.
