Job summary

UC San Diego oversees a landscape maintenance role under UCSD Temporary Employment Services (TES). Duties include maintaining and repairing irrigation, operating landscape equipment, pruning, fertilizing, turf care, and litter removal to support campus landscapes and outdoor classrooms.

Candidates should bring documented landscape experience, plant knowledge, and the ability to handle physical work; strong communication and adaptability are essential for a multi-cultural campus environment.

Qualifications

• At least one year of recent relevant landscape work experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience maintaining and diagnosing plant material and their cultural needs.
• Experience maintaining and monitoring irrigation systems and controllers.
• Experience operating landscape maintenance equipment such as mower, edger, blower, and other tools.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups; flexible to changing priorities.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions and perform heavy, physical work.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair irrigation systems and controllers according to guidelines.
• Operate landscape maintenance power equipment and perform routine tasks.
• Prune shrubs and small trees; fertilize, turf maintenance, and litter pickup.
• Assist in keeping outdoor classrooms and landscaped areas safe and well-kept.
