Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Landscape Services Crew Leader on the UT Main Campus. You will supervise a crew of gardeners and groundskeepers, maintain campus landscape, and ensure safety and quality in every task.

This non-exempt, full-time position offers competitive benefits and requires a Class C driver license, ability to lift 50 lbs, and experience with power equipment. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Four years of experience in landscape maintenance or construction.
• One year experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Experience with plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns.
• Experience using power equipment and hand tools used in gardening work.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in adverse conditions (weather, dust, noise, heights, fumes).
• Stable work history.
• Current Class C Operator Driver License required.
• MVR history review prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a crew of gardeners and groundskeepers in landscaping tasks.
• Operates landscape equipment safely (mowers, trimmers, blowers, etc.).
• Ensures timely completion of instructions, assigns work, and maintains attendance records.
• Enforces PPE and safety rules; reports unsafe conditions.
• Applies mulch, soil amendments, fertilizers, pesticides; irrigates landscape as instructed.
• Operates university vehicles/equipment and maintains driver rating.
• Performs other related duties and occasional overtime as needed.
