Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Landscape Services Crew Leader to supervise a team of gardeners and groundskeepers on the UT Main Campus. You will perform skilled landscaping tasks to maintain the health and appearance of campus landscapes and ensure safety and efficiency in daily operations.

The role requires leadership, plant care knowledge, and the ability to operate power equipment. It is a full-time, on-site position with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Four years of experience in landscape maintenance or construction.
• One year supervisory experience.
• Experience in the care of plants, flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns.
• Experience using power equipment and hand tools used in gardening work.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Capable of working in adverse conditions (weather, dust, noise, heights, fumes).
• Stable work history.
• Ability to perform basic computer operations.
• Current Class "C" Operator Driver License required.
• MVR check required; Texas residency rules apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a crew of gardeners and groundskeepers in landscaping tasks.
• Maintains landscape to university standards using landscape equipment.
• Ensures timely completion of written and oral instructions; assigns work and completes paperwork.
• Wears PPE and enforces safety rules; reports unsafe conditions.
• Applies mulch, soil amendments, fertilizers, and pesticides; irrigates as needed.
• Operates university vehicles and equipment; maintains driving record.
• Safely operates landscaping equipment and vehicles.
• Collaborates with Campus Operations and UT System as needed; occasional overtime.
