Job summary

Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, IA, is seeking a Prep Cook to assist in daily production of all food items in the Galley. Shift is Monday–Friday, 5:00am–10:30am, with emphasis on safety, sanitation, and serving guests in a college dining environment.

Responsibilities include stocking and preparing hot food items, following recipes, keeping work areas clean, training part-time staff when needed, and coordinating with Culinary Arts faculty and campus guests to ensure quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; post-secondary education preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in the food service industry.
• Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
• Production and service of menu items.
• Skills to compute portions and extend recipes.
• Ability to work professionally with students and campus guests.
• Ability to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist in production of daily menu/catering items.
• Stocking, preparation, service and clean-up of the hot food production.
• Maintain equipment used as assigned by the food service management.
• Record daily production pars to ensure proper quantities.
• Ensure FIFO is implemented and used at all times.
• Interact professionally with Culinary Arts faculty/staff and Daycare staff.
