Job summary

IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Food Service Specialist to prepare and portion meals for students, follow established recipes and kitchen processes, and ensure a clean, safe dining environment. You will monitor students during meal periods, encourage healthy choices, and assist with kitchen cleanup and setup for the next day.

The role requires standing for long periods, basic math for portioning, and the ability to work with team members in a fast-paced school kitchen.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma Preferred but Not Required
• Experience: 1+ years of work requiring you to be on your feet for multiple hours a day
• Moving cafeteria tables daily and disposing of garbage
• Food Handler’s Permit (City of County) preferred

Responsibilities

• Prepare and portion food for IDEA students
• Follow recipes and kitchen processes
• Monitor students during meals and encourage fruit/veg consumption
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment
• Possess basic math skills for portioning
• Work 8 hours on regular school days with possible overtime and Saturdays
• Read and execute recipes and operate ovens, slicers, and steamers
