Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's University Housing and Dining is seeking a Cook to assist the Sous Chef in daily meal production for breakfast, lunch, and dinner serving 3,000+ customers on UT's main campus.

You will prepare a variety of menu items using commercial kitchen equipment, follow recipes, and ensure food safety, quality, and proper labeling. This role requires high-volume cooking experience and reliable teamwork.

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a Cook or Food Prep in a commercial facility.
• Experience following recipes and operating cooking equipment.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training as required by UHD.
• Experience in high-volume food production is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of breakfast, lunch and dinner for a high-volume operation.
• Read and comprehend recipes, including conversions.
• Independently prepare recipes with attention to waste and quality.
• Ensure food safety guidelines and proper labeling and storage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and equipment.

Skills

One year of experience as a Cook or  -

Experience operating cooking equipment

Experience following recipes

Ability to complete and maintain Food

Basic computer skills

Education

Culinary degree
