Job summary

Compass Group's Chartwells Higher Ed unit on Midwestern University campus in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a full-time Cook. The role involves preparing high-volume meals, following recipes, and ensuring food safety and quality across multiple stations.

Required: food handler's certificate, 2+ years in a cook role, and strong kitchen fundamentals. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:00 am–2:30 pm with occasional catering overtime.

Qualifications

• Previous food handler's certificate, experience in large volume kitchens and catering required.
• Strong cooking skills and solid understanding of culinary fundamentals, and proper food handling
• At least 2 years experience in a cook position
• Comfortable working across multiple stations and adapting to changing menus

Responsibilities

• Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery and service schedules.
• Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty.
• Keeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat. Ensures food and supply items are stored per standards.
• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
• Maintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators and managers.
• Performs job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
• Follows HACCP standards and present food properly.
