Job summary

Zoot Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a Cook to provide high quality, healthy on-campus lunch service to employees, guests, and clients. You will prepare hot entrees, soups, and salads, following guidance from Sous Chefs, and help with catering for Zoot and ZALA events.

The role requires 3–5 years kitchen experience, strong knife skills, and solid knowledge of food safety. The position is on-site at Zoot’s headquarters and involves 40–45 hours weekly with a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3-5 years in a restaurant/commercial kitchen for large groups (50+ per day).
• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and preparation guidelines.
• Strong knife skills.
• Ability to take direction from supervisors and managers.
• Independent thinking to recognize daily needs.
• Initiative to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Follow guidance from Sous Chefs for daily cooking and equipment use.
• Prepare hot entrees, soups, and salads with on-hand ingredients.
• Create meals from leftovers and extra ingredients.
• Maintain health code compliance in food handling and cleaning.
• Regularly service dishwasher and cleaning equipment; report issues.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals; notify when low.
• Make meal decisions under supervision and multi-task in a fast-paced kitchen.
• Inspect galley equipment and work areas for cleanliness and safety.
• Cook nutritious meals and portion for customers; assist with catering.
