Job summary

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Maintenance Specialist in Boca Raton, FL to oversee and coordinate maintenance and repair work across resident life facilities. You will manage work orders, supervise staff, and liaise with Housing Facilities and Campus Facilities to ensure timely, safe, and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and five years of appropriate experience; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and one year of appropriate experience required.
• Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, inventory, direct, control, review and assign all maintenance work in resident life facilities.
• Consult with the Assistant Director on repairs weekly concerning repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
• Evaluate need for repairs and schedule work with Housing Facilities; inspect facilities and ensure deficiencies are corrected.
• Enter and report all work orders through the Housing online Work Order System; review and assign requests with Housing Facilities.
• Coordinate projects with campus entities to ensure smooth transition and implementation; liaise between Housing and Campus Facilities Staff.
• Develop materials and supply budgets and submit for approval; participate in the P-Card program and track expenditures.
• Assist with the assignment of student/temporary maintenance assistants and ensure proper tool availability.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
